I'm very new to the pixel art style, I've started a few days ago and learned a little to make assets for a friend to play around with.

For an alien walking animation this is all I have so far, it is only 2 frames which I thought may work due to how close together the legs are. http://i.imgur.com/RwcqLrS.gif I'm aware it looks pretty terrible, how can I make it look better and more real?
