CHALLENGE: Patterns

This week, we want you to create something that prominently features a pattern (that is, a repeated decorative design). Your pattern could be a textile, the decoration on an object, or just some repeated element in your piece.

An example is this piece by MashPotato.

Canvas size - Max 222 x 222.
Colours - Max 22.
Animation - Optional.
Transparency - Optional.

CHALLENGE RULES

• Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
• Only new pixels allowed.
• Open to all members.
• Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

• Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
• Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
• Winner announced the following week.

@jeremy, squares are not geometric enough?

for the purposes of this challenge the pattern should be a prominent feature (so you don't have people just doing any old mockup with seamless tiles)

using a tile example,

1. is a repeated element in the most technical sense, but wouldn't fit the challenge


2. is better, but really boring


3. is sweet


drazile's entry takes it in a direction that i hadn't considered but still works, in that he's using a repeated element to create something else, but the tile is an obvious & important part of the work.

How readable is this?

Well cool, I was just working on something like this when my computer crashed and died. Guess I'll restart and try to enter this chal. Digicam here I come. 

Screw the robot, I've got better idea.
Does something like Fraser's Spiral count as a pattern?

It's pretty messy now, but in the end the thing on background will be something like Fraiser Spiral I posted earlier.

@Drazile, there will be Penrose triangle. Which one corner?

Couldn't get that spiral effect. Won't participate in this weekly, I think.

I didn't pay proper attention so I accidentally made something for this challenge instead of the current week... oh well.
