Hello PixelJoint!

I am currently working on a fanart piece for the visual novel/anime/manga "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" and it's second season.

Without further ado, here goes my current wip:



The character design or rather style differs a lot within the franchise.
Therefore my version will be of course not the same as the images/references you can find on the internet.

Right now I am not sure whether adding new colours could be a good addition. I like this 2 shades construct and could not pull off anything better yet with more colours.

Other than that I just felt like sharing my progress via the forum again. : )
If anything jumps into your head, feel free to share it with me.

Yes, and as you can see, your image has a shrinked resolution which I wanted to avoid. That is why I took a screenshot.

Lindion45's image shows up as shrunken to me too. The screenshot works as ref, I don't even know why Lakelezz brought it up xP

The shirt and skirt have a good sense of volume, but the hair and skin do not. The hair in particular looks like it's lit from a different angle than the clothes are.

I tried to apply a better shading to the hair but I think I did not succeed that that much. The legs were even harder, I could neat some tips for them. From my point of view the shadow on them feels dirty and does not really add up. Maybe that is my poor placement or because that shadow tone needs a recolouring.
If anyone has a tip for me, I would be very happy to read it. Sadly I am a bit stuck with this.

The left side provides a different attempt on the overall colour selection. Mainly tried to increase the contrast just for fun. Not sure if this is not a bit too much. I guess I prefer the right version but I will try to play with that a bit more.

Additionally I did some tweaks on the eye, leg and arm shapes.
