Pieces that very clearly belong in the gallery get accepted quickly most of the time. Pieces that have various problems can take longer. Your owl piece, as someone else pointed out, has a very high colour count, which could be a sign the piece isn't entirely pixel art. In addition, it's pre-zoomed and some users don't like that and vote to reject pre-zoomed pieces.
