a pixel art i submitted got sent to revision, as it was considered prescaled. however, i really did not prescale it. for example, when i open aseprite and set brush size to 1 pixel, the windows on the darker side of the second building from the right are just one pixel wide, so that is how it should be, right?

i mean, i am quite a noob, i did like two pixel arts two years ago and then sadly paused, and i am only back now, so i understand if it gets refused for not being good enough, but i really did not edit it in any inappropriate way :(

is there something else i am missing? does prescale mean something else except change size of the image? please help and thanks in advance ;__;

From your description it sounds like you are right, and that there was a mistake in the rejection. However, non-mods like me can't view your piece as it was not approved, would you mind to post it here as an image? Then I can see what's wrong or not ;)

This is where that "og:image" trick I discussed in the Chatterbox comes into play. 😁

@StoneStephenT
I knew there was a trick and had already forgotten how it worked :p. Next time I'll remember!

@gothicmiriel:
Your understanding of prescaled is correct, and your artwork is not prescaled. I can understand the confusion though, there are a lot of 2x wide elements, even the stars are either 2x2 pixels or made out of 2x2 blocks!

I am not sure though if they will let this in the gallery nonetheless. Although it is a huge improvement on your previous city night, it is a rather similar piece and not incredibly interesting. Some suggestions to make it better would be:
Adjust building shapes to have more interesting architecture
Adjust window sizes to match the depth, further away buildings should look smaller
Consider different colors.
For all of those three, I recommend you look find some reference images for cityscapes by night, so you have some good examples to compare with.
If you need more help feel free to post it in the WIP forum.
In the meanwhile, I'll make sure the mods noticed your message, perhaps they do change their decision (but that is not necessarily a reason to not improve your work!)

@Hapiel i would like to thank you a lot for both explaining and the suggestions ^-^

i do want to improve, this is not even close to what i had in mind, i just don't know how to make everything i want yet :D

it would be great to have this approved, of course, but i can imagine how much better it would feel if i kept making stuff and then got something /actually/ cool approved

in any case, thanks once again!!

@StoneStephenT i did not know about that trick either, thanks ^_^
