Here a big image of 8 bits sprites sizes comparison to study, with a screen resolutions sizes image from several console, this take me a time to do it.

Thanks a lot for sharing! Many of these were adapted from original designs with higher resolution or colors (from arcade machines for example), and it's amazing how recognizable they can be with a fraction of the pixels. I really like what they did with the 40-26 Final Fight "Guy" (red karateka), details are pushed aside in order to emphasize his expressive stance.

It's interesting to be able to compare all these, although I think the GB / GBC sprites can suffer from the comparison with designs that benefits from more color freedom.

Fixed some spaces between sprites.

For information by hazard when making this sprites sheet, two batman sprites are close to Krusty sprite, joker is in holidays .

Its extremely interesting see the limitations of the artists back then. And some were able to do such a high quality work with only just a few colors and frames because they needed to save as much time. Budget and space as possible.

I think my favorites are the ones of around 16. Because they are so tiny but still pretty food looking!
