When I put my username and password it tells me this: Error: Invalid login / password combination. But I can log in to the forum with the same username and password.

That's strange! Try and see if it works in a private browser window with autofill off? If it works there, then reset cookies and you should be good.

Otherwise I can set a new password for you and mail it to you, that usually works too.

In fact, the message that I got told me to delete the cookies, but I had already done it. Even I had already recovered the password several times but when I changed it, it did not recognize it. What I did as a last resort was use a different password, and it worked. I don't know why the other one didn't work. I say this in case something similar happens to someone, you can try that.
