Pixel Joint Forum: Zx Spectrum Art help

   Good afternoon and thank you for the opportunity to join.

I’m wondering if anyone out there could help me with resources to create Zx Spectrum art, I’ve a PC, Mac and IPhone/IPads and being of the age that loved the speccy when it was new I’d love to have a stab at Zx type art but I’m wondering if there are any particular apps or such that can help or whether it’s creating via emulation these days?

Also I use Sketchclub and was wondering if there’s a way to creat the right size screen and emulate the attribute issues?

Any and all advice gratefully received, thanks in advance

	Not precisely a good answer, but how I would do it in GIMP: Create a background layer; this is the paper color; 256×192/32×24 Create a layer group; for characters. In this group: >Create a background layer; the high-resolution character layer;256×192 >Create a an overlay layer set to 'Hue' blending/mode; for character color;256×192/32×24 Create an 8X8 checkerboard grid; for selection;32×24 grid squares. Fill the grid delineated squares of the 'Hue' layer to color characters, these drawn in white on transparent. Fill the grid delineated squares of the 'Paper' layer for background color. I'd like a dedicated tool also. I'll check back to see if anyone has any convenient ideas :)

	there are 2 editors that might be useful: - Multipaint - http://multipaint.kameli.net/ - runs on Java - ZX-Paintbrush - https://sourcesolutions.itch.io/zx-paintbrush - runs on Wine both import and export png format
