Topic: what are the prices?

I am planning to have a pixel artist to help me making a game.

I want to know how pixel artist charge people for their work and how much is the standered around.

If you are a pixel artist and never been in any business, just tell me how would your personal deal be.

By the way, I've never seen such topic started anywhere. Do people realy start business with others or are they all afraid to do so?

Just like anything else, you get what you pay for. The higher the quality you are looking for the more you can expect to pay and there are several different approachs for charging... per piece, per hour, per project.

It might help any interested pixel artists if you provide a little bit of background for what specifically you are looking for.

Well, the characters I want to make is anime style. But the part I need pixel artist the most for is backgrounds and tilesets.

I need a start price. Any quality the pixel artist is comfortable making. Let's say, pixel artist default price.

I am paralized now since I don't know how much should be in my poket so that I don't have shortage.

you ready? .... one BILLION dollars! Honestly, I'm not a professional so I wouldn't know how much to charge. I imaginei it's the same rules for any other type of art but I don't know what they charge either.

Illustrators/Designers run between $25-65 an hour in Los Angeles to give you an idea of what to expect, but I'm sure you can work out whatever pricing scheme you want. Hope you get some bites.

It's always a challenge working with new people, but a good illustrator/designer should be able to spec something out before beginning work.
