Ok, so I play this game... well not yet because it's not released yet but im part of the community of that game... but the important thing is that it's called Stygian Worlds...
...and for like four millions years i have been trying to create this piece of art out of pixels inspired by the graphics of that upcomming game but the carpet, table and chairs always end up all messed up. It's awful.
Im basing my work on a single screeny that was provided to us when Lothgar ( Jason Ely ), the guy who make the game, started his project. Im trying to make a iso pixel piece for the Joint.
Here's what I have done so far.
![]() I need tricks on how to recreate the carpet, chairs and table.
Hope somebody can help me.
![]() Ps: Here's a little fun about my post.

I suggest you show us a .gif or .png of the room. People here will tear you apart if you use a jpeg. The room looks good so far, but the table has a messed line in the corner and there isn't a way to get in or anything that people would come into the room to do yet.

The picture was on the first page of the Stygian Worlds website.
![]() I had to extract all items one by one, redo the lines with reference, recolor using the palete of color from the picture and fit it inside the room format for the joint.
I'm still working on the door and windows that's why there is none.
The biggest trouble I got is with the carpet...

Im making this piece as a surprise for Jason Ely and his team im sure they wont have any objections to it since it's just for fun.
I'm gonna ask them at the last minute.

Well I'd say start over since it's already ruined by being a JPEG.
Fun or not, it's just going to look like sh*t because of the crappy JPG quality. |

Im doing a room for "the Joint" project and need some help from peoples who are more talented then i am making pixel art. I tried over 10 time to do the carpet and I can't come up with a convincing result.
How would you "the experts" do this? Edited by Aramax - 13 November 2006 at 2:21am |

Souly is talking about your own image, the room you're making. It's saved as a jpg which produces some awful artifacts.
Not only does it look bad, it won't get approved into the Joint in this format. |

![]() Is there a tutorial on how to recreate complicated paterns like the carpet? Edited by Aramax - 15 November 2006 at 6:08am |

There's too much contrast on the lighter stripes where the breaks are. Use the darker stripe color for the breaks in the lighter stripes. Then you just need to make it look more random, and not so uniform by adding extra spots of dark and light to the stripes.
