It looks like he's looking down. It's not that big of a deal, but it's just a little annoying. >_>

I think the main problem was indeed the colors.
![]() In my edit I increased the contrast and made the ramps a lot more linear. Your hue and saturation values were all over the place, and I think it looks better with a more predictable trend.

Changed the colors, it looks better, but I'm not sure about the lines though...but maybe they look good ingame, they are on a white bg now..
![]() Maby this is better? Milder inner-lines but the same outlines.

Add a bg and check if it still looks good.
Fo some reson the character looks like its leaning forward. |

Im still not happy with your walk animation and shading of the blue harness... anyway found a usefull link for you that can help with more than just those two points.

So, I took a break for a week or two but I'm back on this again
@Vertigo-Zero: Yeah, Adarias showed me some of those on pixelation. He's been a great help there. I took a look on his walking animation but whoa thats a lot of frames, It did help a little though;).
For the armour, there aren't many sprites with armour there.
But I descided to dich the blue armour guy, it didn't look good anyway. So I made a new character.
I kept it simple but I added a scarf so it still is recognisable.
![]() ![]() 2 versions, I'm having doubts about the arm, should I use the dark outlines or the soft outlines?
edit:
maby I should bend the right arm some more Edited by dragonrc - 05 March 2007 at 10:06am |

Soft outlines work on very low saturated colors (grey or near grey) and dark outlines work well on brighter, saturated colors. In this case, the arm always has the cape behind it, and its a bolder color than the grey surrounding it, so the dark outline looks better.
Great work on the walk anim, thats very nice! |
