Jr. Pixel Artist Internship (Toronto)

This is a paid internship postition with the opportunity to transition to a full-time contract position. The successful applicant will be asked to work fairly flexible part-time hours to start.

Applicants from the Greater Toronto Area or those willing to commute to Downtown Toronto only please.

Capybara Games Inc. is currently seeking a talented 2D/Pixel Artist for mobile game production. The ideal candidate has experience working in pixel art, including tiling, animation and low-color work, but game development experience is not necessary. If you have pixel art skills and want a chance to work on some cool mobile titles, let us know.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work directly with Programmers, Designers and Artists to conceptualize and realize pixel art for mobile games
• Create in-game sprites, animations, tiles, user interface and more
• Contribute innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of game production and development
• Integrate change requests and playtesting feedback
• Actively seek review and input from other team members
• Create promotional material and illustrations for web and print

Required/Desired Skills:

• Must be a passionate gamer
• Pixel/sprite animation skills
• Excellent traditional art skill
• Digital art skills (Photoshop or similar); desktop publishing skills are a definite asset, as is web design and art-for-web experience. 3D Skills an asset but not necessary.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Team player – experience working on team-based projects is key
• Ability to follow direction and work in a variety of art styles
