Your horses need manes (or at least more obvious ones), and thicker/broader snouts and necks, and pointier ears maybe.. Atm they look more like seahorses :3

Your horses need ears and thick almost triangular necks.

I think i got that job you are talking about. Yours has a very different style to mine i have to say and i really like the look... i would go as far as to say slightly jealous. As has been said the horse looks off but i also am not a fan of the button look on the black and white checkers. Also the black pieces don't match up to the black squares colour wise but the blue/white pieces do. It would be better if the blue ones eluded to be that colour but weren't quite that similar.

updated the pallete on the white pieces to make them blue-er, I didn't want to make it too drastic, but I think this helps, thanks

edit: I also re-did the top-left portion of the chessboard, tried to make it less buttony but still something going on
