Right, this makes sense. This is for fun. Its not going to turn into a real game but i'm going to do screenshots as such. The game will be called SoulChild =P.

Here is my WIP Mockup. I have the grass and dirt tile things down. Please C+C.

i'd make the dirt fade in to back a bit slower, right now it's very abrupt

No, no that did not work. Snader means fade the bottom of the tiles like this example.

I totally redid the bottom tile. I don't know if it looks good or not. I also added grass going up against the rock and hanging over the edge.

It still looks like a very harsh and obvious line to me. It looks like you need to pull some of your darker base color down to break up the transition.

Jalonso's link is worth a thousand words. Study it carefully and give it another try.
