Pixel Joint Forum: Looking for some small basic pixel practices

   Just something to hone my skills, because everytime I tackle a big piece I end up giving up because I don't know alot of the techniques used.

I know there is a tutorial section but most of them show me step by step on how to make something incredible looking, when no matter how many times I were to go through the tutorial I wouldn't really be able to make it myself.

So I've been doing small things, shading cubes and cones and spheres and I'm starting to do the wee's (I wont post them indivdually, I think thats annoying).

I've been thinking about going through the old weekly challenges and doing those for fun, but is there anything someone could mention thats small and basic for a noobish pixel artist that anyone could reccomend?

	I'll share :D Make a small ball, 32x32 pixels, using a black outline. Then copy that over and color in, then do it again, and again, each time using a style thats different. Different dithering patterns, different light sources, etc. Different colors, looks, patterns and keep going like that after about 24 of them. Start again re-working the first 24, then one last time. At the end you should see a world of difference between the second ball and the one next to last. If you learn nothing at all from this, put all those balls together to form a necklace and leave it for leel on the off-topic thread ;)
