this is for the weekly challenge..
i need help making some reflections and lightings to the bubble where the city is and light coming from the up the water any tips?
the green boz is just for the pallete so it is going to dissapear...

Cool work, comrade :)
I suggest for background some underground mountains, water surface and rays of sun (not too much of). Also i think that tiny flat blink is enought for cuple reflection.

That's very cool, I just think you could raise the contrast, I know it's underwater, but it's kind of hard to see, just my opinion.

Well since you asked for C&C here, I might just want
to repeat it publicly

First of all I must say that your picture is beautifull.
The colors that you have chosen really are working!
I was investigating your color choice to learn from
it myself and I noticed a little nice effect when
I made an edit:

you  And this is what I did.

I dittered the middle plane as to have a transition
to the water. It gave a little mist effect.
Notice that I also did some AA on the bottom
of the city. Maybe it is of help to you...

It is a really small edit, but I hope you get
the picture

Like I already said you have a really nice
scene here and I am looking forward to
your completed entry!

Well done. But maybe a little bit too much?!?!
Some areas can have more emphasis. Like what
you did in the first plane. Some things sticking out.
Also the fish below the city are almost invisible
right now.
But the overall atmosphere is really breathtaking!

Great Job. Especially the glow on the building to the left is
really nice!

Personally I found the first pallete quite allright!
But I guess that is just a manner of taste.

Progress is looking good.
Good luck with your attempt on the sunrays and
the waves on top.

You have a lot of days left till the closure so you

te recomiendo que en lo psoible uses la menor cantidad de dithering posible, provilegiando las formas mas definidas.

aun te quedan 4 colores creo, asi que guardalos para las fuentes de luz submarinas

 well. the palette was kinda to dark and i didn't liekd it that way.. i could hardly see some parts..

If you're running out of palette, you can easily unify some colors:
    • Replace that orangey color that's only used on one structure with your lightest yellow color

    • Replace the outline of the dome with one of your darker sea colors (probably the purpleish one)

    • Replace the main dome color with a sea color.

    • One of your palette swatches is used nowhere in the piece, thus artificially increasing your color count by one. It's the saturated blue one. (it's not technically the color used for the dome, though it looks like it)

Just playing around with it I got it down to 11, freeing up 5 colors.

Maybe the straight gradient lines should be warped into a sort of curve when viewed through the shape of the dome?

The hypersaturated blues in the dome are kind of confusing to me. Shouldn't we see more or less the same colors through the clear dome as we see around it?

At this stage the bits of lightwer blues under the dome makes for a jolt to the eyes. Maybe blend from the ground a little higher. The lights inside the dome itself would be better placed if the follow the curvature so that they are dim-less dim; bright- less dim- dim.

My bad. Please understand that anything said to you on any thread are ideas and suggestions to help you find your way. Never take c+c as orders, ever.

What I meant about the lights inside the dome on the buildings was to help define the curvature of the dome by dimming at the very edges and progressively brigthening them as you get to the center. This may not work out tho since this challenge has a 16 color limit. Its just an idea, k. This if very good and is by far your best ever pixel.

2ndlightest color where the light touches, 1st light colors over it, 3rd light color to the righht of the second for it to look smoother, and darker colours to the oposite side where the light touches
 
i got the technical aspects now let's see if i can aply em...
 
 
Metaru: creo que no me ayuda mucho eso =/ por que es un objeto solido y el mio es un domo hecho de algo parecido al vidrio..., pero si lo analizare y lo utilizare =)
