The Conceptualizing
The Rough outline or sketch
The Lineart
The Picking colors/midtones
The Shading/highlighting
The Refining/fine tune
The Submitting

I personally enjoy the shading the most like turning it from a flat block of color into a 3d looking block of color it is awesome

but what do you prefer

(you can say two or three or all of them if you want)

I prefer lineart and shading.

The process should have more choices in it however (to get more accurate results from PJ-goers):
  1. Conceptualizing
  2. Rough outline or sketch
  3. Lineart
  4. Picking colors/midtones
  5. Shading/highlighting
  6. Refining/fine tune
  7. Submitting

i hate linearting cuz the first version always sucks and i completely change it while i'm doing other stuff :P

so
shading/highlighting and fine tune me likes.

the more I think about line art is also one of my favorites I don't really like conceptualizing because I watch too much TV and my imagination is pretty bad

I think I like shading and refining the best... the first because when you block in colours you can finally see things coming together (my lineart always look terrible), and the second because then you're approaching the end and can see how far you've come

I personally don't really like the process but the end result is what makes me do my work.

I LOVE doing lineart, in fact, i feel myself more confident doing some linearts as pixel art rather than traditional pencil & paper(in fact, i have some linearts that i migth post here... dunno why i haven't). But sometimes I hate couloring and shading. its basically my weakest point to the moment.

not to mention when i'm animating one of those 100+ frames animations... that can be a seriusly pain in the ass. but the end results truly worths the efforth. specially when not only you like it, but also when people like it too.

i personally love the step before conceptualization, which is doodling in my notebook in math beforehand..then slapping that into pixel forum, but i guess shading is always fun cus of the outcome of a ceratain texture or shade effect you make...and you zoom out and your like "wow, that looks half decent"...

Refining/fine tune

It is the best, because it is the last part and you get to see what you have done and it can only get better.

This is gonna sound hokey, but my favorite part is WIP threads. I get so much help and get pointed in the right direction so often its not even funny. Not to mention that ideas I wouldn't come up with are freely given... I love you guys

Same with Jal. I love critique, and seeing how the pieces improve.

But i'm best in shading, coloring, etc.

Lineart takes too long and I'm not that kind of person.

All of the above is fun, except the palette setup.

The line art and shading has become the same process for me. If I need a line between two rows of pixels, I start shading from there and add two rows of medium shade instead (faking sub pixel). Of course, it is hard to hit the correct shade unless you are willing to add body colour and shading at the same time.
