Pixel Joint Forum: image ripping?

   First of all, I'd like to say 'hi'. I've been lurking for a long time, silently appreciating the pixel art here, and have only recently decided to sign up and host some of my own works.

Which brings me to the main topic, one of my favourite methods of producing a pixel piece is 'vectoring' a picture (not always one I've drawn myself) using AA techniques.

Ignoring the text, which was placed with GIMP, the main image is hand pixelled.. but does this constitute image ripping, which I know is against pixeljoint policy? Or is the technique generally frowned upon?

I thought I'd better check this, before trying to submit any pieces like this (minus any details I may insert with GIMP as a finish).

	So glad you've come out of the shadows, welcome :) If you mean using a reference to trace by hand and color/pixel. With ref link this is not a problem. Some are colorists, some design others do both. Ripping is using pixels placed by someone else and passing them as yours. Fonts as you have them here are a grey area. If possible draw your own.

	With 205 colours, there's something wrong with the picture there. Most probably the text right? Fix that up as soon as you can.

	if someone wants to check the colour count on the version without text: should be 12 colours, I don't usually use so many, but I wanted a pallette that stretched from black to off white through brown. It's not auto AA.. I'm not even sure how auto AA is done, everything you see on this image is hand placed. The text, as I mentioned was generated with GIMP, hence your high colour count. But I said I would only submit a blank version to the gallery.
