*Note* Background is white, and this is because it is a process sheet.

I haven't cleaned up the lineart yet, because I need some pointers at this early stage of this piece I started today, and plan to finish it today. Well, I'm making this winged girl character sprite, based on the concept with permission of the author which you can see the piece here:
http://blueteardrop.deviantart.com/art/Star-Riddled-Skies-80344446

Well, I want a suggestion on the pose, as if it looks akward in terms of position of the arms, legs, etc... that sort of stuff. Also, can you guys/girls suggest a position of the light that would go well with this piece? I'll appreciate if you can give me any advice before I start refining things, that's w
hy I want to make any major changes now so I don't have to start destroying things at a latter stage.

Make pointers on the top part, since it's the latest progress... the ones below are just how I started making the sprite. As you can see I had another pose in mind, but I kinda screwed it up, so I had to make some arrangements.

EDIT:

I have made some progress so far... take a look at how it is being shaped. I haven't finished the shading, but the focus of light comes from the left top side... the hands and feet I'm also working on that... I'm happy in how things are coming out, depite there are things to refine, and also the wings... the wings man... that's gonna be the fight of the year to make a similar effect as it is used in the concept art.

*removed, since I updated the WIP below*

...and let's put the concept art so you can see exactly what I'm trying to achieve...

EDIT 2:

More progress done... now the last part, the wings... and well some other small issues I could correct, but whatever, I'm going for the jackpot, after I get some sleep.

Wow, this looks great so far! I'm rather new, so I don't have many tips, just thought I'd let you know that the pinkish/tannish wings on the far left look good with the blue.

Thanks, glad you commented haha, from more than a 100 views you're the 1st. I updated the WIP, I'll get done by later on today... it's 2:33am and I'm going to bed, but now I have to take care of the wings, and whatever other small issue that I have avoided till now.

The back arm position is a bit unnatural. If you're kung-fu-y look you should probably have the arm go out away from the body and then come back instead of having it hug the side of the body. It both feels more natural and lets the back hand move much quicker if it needs to than having it tucked away behind the body.

Also, the right (our right) foot is at a very odd angle. It doesnt match the perspective on the rest of the body. flatten it out a bit (though not entirely) and it should look more like its resting on the same plane as the other foot and in the same perspective as the body.

I'd also ask why the hair is sticking out to the side like that - if it was wind blowing it it should be sticking out above the arm too, because from what I can tell in the reference pic the hair's flowing free from the back of the head. As you have it now it looks more like its in a ponytail, pulled back and only flowing free further down the head.

I made a quick crummy little example to show what I mean. Hope it helps :)

Overall it is coming alone pretty well though :) And I do like the wings.
