This is an art piece i did of Jesus carrying the worlds sins. It's was meant to be a symbolic piece. The steps ahead of him are the steps that lead him to the cross that were predestined. Any critiques would be nice for what to add the the background.

Also if any other christians on here can think of something else symbolic to add i'm open to suggestions.

Oh geez... *the Wiccan steps away*

From a pixel aspect, though, and ignoring my bias against Christianity, the piece has a good plan and is very symbolic, but the elements themselves need work.

The world is too much of an oval shape and both of the Jesus figures need anatomy work. Mainly:

The one walking has too long of arms and the one nailed up lacks definition. His arms and legs look like really long triangles.

Also, what's with the weird lines stretching from the side through the world to Jesus' face? o.o;

Nice Idea, the cross has weird proportions the wings should be longer, it looks like a sword for me now a thorn crown would be nice idea, arm and legs are weird other than that its good and clean, for the background I would add a dawn or sunset, or transition between "sinful world" and heaven in the heaven Mary the mother of jesus would strech out her hand for him with part of her would be in the piece not just her arm it would look weird. You can use the colors of the background they are nicely choosed, but background tisk tisk.

I would have preffered if you made it more realistic, to give it more depth... a jesus in "cartoon" style would have look better for an animation or a children e-book. Either way, keep going as you are, I have to see how you develop it further... don't forget to use bright colors, since jesus represents light. (I'm not religious btw)

If your going for realistic, don't forget the sign that read somthing like "King of the Jews'.

Also, don't forget the resurrection. If your really artsy, perhaps work the globe into a tomb scene, such as the stone that was rolled away?

Also don't forget, Crucifixion was capital. Jesus would have had no beard, as it would have been ripped from his face. (Dunno if this is for little kids or not, but I imagine it would be a bloody mess.)

Back along the lines of realism vs cartoonish, the cross would have most likely been two trees TIED together (perhaps symbolizing the two trees, of good&evil and of life)

I don't know why his hands and feet are shiney, I'm guessing for nails. Remember that the nails actually went into the wrist. Feel those two bones running almost down the sides of your wrist, the nails went in between there.  Same with the legs/feet, the nail is through the bone in the legs, the small bones/mucles would have torn or killed the person to quickly, the point here is torture. Hanging on the cross, your muscles start to liquidate, remember this when/if reworking his anatomy. He would likely be sagging from the torturous beating he had just received.

Dunno if your gonna put a background scene in, if you do, remember that the atmosphere and sky was dark.

There's probably a lot more to be worked in, as the bible is full of symbols. Lambs, Shepards, Angels, Soldiers. Just throwing some things out there for you to chew on.

I'd say if it's meant to be symbolic why is it so literal? I mean, carrying the world on your back is about as literal as symbolism gets. Nothing in particular comes to mind that would better suit it, but if you can think of something else I'd strongly recommend changing it. but that's just my opinion.
