I've been lurking for quite some time, and I've finally decided to post.

EDIT: Is that more consistent? I'm still not sure about the pants...

What I'm trying to figure out is what the shape of the shadow he's going to cast on the ground needs to look like. I tried Google, but found nothing.

Thanks in advance.

And F.Y.I.  I'm well aware that there is more that needs to be done to this, such as the cleaning up of the outline. That being said, while I wouldn't complain about CC, it's not what I'm looking for just yet.

First of all, the shading on the pants looks off. Where's your light source?

It's inconsistent so far: from above on the pants, lateral 30° up on shirt and raised arm, from 3/4 back not too high on head and arm on ground.
Is it the shadow of the knee on the shirt?

Putting aside pants (because the overall feeling is lateral), it would be a long shadow mostly out of the frame. You'd only see the ground arm shadow extending out to the left, maybe a bit towards the front.

Looks like a good pose, but too large for my own taste.
The shirt and pants might be pulled down a lot, if the guy is somewhat stable they can't stay raised in mid air like this.

As for the different light source locations, I'll try to fix that, but the desired effect is supposed to be between the last 2.
Yes, that is supposed to be a shadow of his knee across his shirt.

As for the shadow extending out of the frame, the only reason the frame is the size it is, is because There is nothing terribly important in the picture yet, aside from him. The actual image has a much larger frame, which I would adjust to fit his shadow, or at least a large portion of it.

It is so large because this is me 'inking' an old sketch I did.
I also probably should lower his clothing some, but he's not supposed to be sustaining this pose...
