I am a very beginner on pixel art drawing, and currently learning from a book.
Since I am a MAC user, I cannot use softwares that are suggested on the book. ( http://takabosoft.com/edge - EDGE is the software that my book recommends) I found " http://opensword.org/Pixen/ - Pixen " which is not bad, but it seems to have no function on quick colour switching. That means if I wanna change to another colour (if I wanna change a blue creature into red), I almost need to make the whole thing again...

Anyone knows any pixel drawing software on Mac which has the colour switching function? Please help~~~~

My Macbook runs very slow, so a tiny one might be better...

The following is my stupid works...

Try http://gimp.org/ - GIMP , http://code.google.com/p/grafx2/ - Grafx2 , or you can just make different layers for the colors, so you can just highlight it and change the colors, which is what I usually do.  I can't seem to find a color switching program on for Macs, but http://www.google.com/search?q=color+switch+art+program&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox - I've taken the liberty of Googling it for you .  I'm sure you'll find something there.
And I believe Grafx just came out with layers recently or something :D

And the only time where you really need a color switching program is when you dither.  If you don't dither, color switches should only take a few minutes.

color switching? isnt it everywhere as simpel as : fill-bucket, de-check contiguous, and there u go???... at least thats how it work with photoshop... rly handy.... you can even set the opacity of the fill color and mix new colors very easy.... id suggest using PS anyway.... its got everything u need, custom brushes, hotkeys, layers, multiple windows, gif-animation etc etc.. now that i finally know that u can actually use dither brushes and most important, how to free-transform stuff without auto-antialiasing im rly happy with PS

copy/pasting because I got the lazy:

I used Photoshop when I was on a Mac, but I realize that's not possible for everyone. You could try http://code.google.com/p/grafx2/ - GrafX2 , but the Mac build wasn't working last time I checked (it may work now, I have no idea). There's also http://paintbrush.sourceforge.net/ - Paintbrush , which is sort of like MS Paint for OS X, or http://seashore.sourceforge.net/ - Seashore , which is basically a native OS X port of http://www.gimp.org/ - GIMP , only greatly stripped down and simplified.

What would it take to compel or coax that bit of information out of you?
