Hey everybody.
I have a menu here for a concept of a game. It's suppose to be on the retro side, and along the lines of a 1880's guilded type. xDD Sounds weird I know, I'll just show you.

Main concern I have: WAYYYYYYYYY too many colors. (Especially the sprite)

...did you draw the sprite?

if you did, then i would try to get it to match more in style with the shop. they not only look completely different, but as if they were made by different people

So my thoughts just weren't good enough for you eh? You have to come here and get feedback from people other than a guy who's on the computer 24 hours a day? I have all these guys beat by like an hour! Well we'll talk about this later mister.

In my opinion, the menu text/bg reeks of "limited palette" in the sense of... EGA, C64, NES etc. Those systems only had a limited amount of total colors to select from - so you often ended up with "primitive" looking shades and tints. That is mainly what differentiates NES graphics from the Sega Master System, which had a real 3+3+3 bit RGB color space. It's also what makes SNES graphics look more sophisticated than those of the Genesis/Mega drive, because the SNES had 5+5+5 (so 15) bit RGB while the Genesis was stuck with 3+3+3.

A four color sprite on the SNES would look much better typically than a four color sprite on the NES, for this reason. I hope you can figure out what I mean. :D

Your shop window and the sprite in particular uses these kinds of subtle colors/shades/tints, while the text and background are of the coarser variety, and that is a glaring mismatch to me.

Edit: um, I guess it's more the sprite than the shelves and goods. Btw, why do the weapons look like soda cans and foodstuffs? :P
