1- For this week`s challenge, I immediately thought of ALTERED BEAST, an old SEGA game (yeah, I am THAT old) I used to play when I was a kid... I always thought the bear to look rather fluffy and not very "dangerous" at all. So I decided to make a cute version of it. Not many good Ideas for colours and shadings however... (Should I AA, dither?)

Thats what I've got:

Reference:

2- I am working as  well on a second "shmup" mockup. Did "Rogue Galaxy" last month and I am trying to improve it... Here are the spaceships I made... The first one is from my first piece, the others were various attempts (with a somewhat "inspiration source" written beside). Any tip on drawing/colouring spaceships are welcome!!

If you want to make a cute bear, you should probably use a teddy bear for reference. Or a young cub. The image you drew does not really resemble the reference.

You can also display cuteness with the fur and the emotions. In the reference, he is growling and his fur is ragged. If the fur were clean and the bear was smiling, it would look cute. But you can still make it look like a real bear. The snout of the bear and the one in your image is nothing alike.

Keep trying.

you're not that old... i still play altered beast, i don't consider myself old...
i say that the most important thing wrong with your piece now are the flames. they look much better in the original. take a real good look at how they did it and  at what it's function was n the original piece. it's quite iconic really...

RISE FROM YOUR GRAVE!

good luck
