heya!

there's some something i've doodled some 3 weeks ago, trying out grafx2's / gif's layer support..  lies on my dump since then and would fit the compo..

any (unwritten) rule that the piece must be started from scratch in the week of the challenge?
i mean, it's already wednesday, thus this week is 3 days old and i've invested at max 2 days into it in the past..

There's no unwritten rule, there is however, a http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9378#challengeexisting - written rule :o

Also, nice piece and subtle/clever idea.

Tomic, you could always repixel it from a different angle... The idea is the hardest part.

This is what I got so far.
Inspired mostly by the loading animation in Monster Hunter 3, other sources of inspiration are Okami, Breath of Fire IV and Bleach.

Not sure what direction I'll take this in.  It started out just seeing if I could make anything that looked animated with only two frames without just looking like a strobe.

Helphelp!

I was rejected due to too many frames. I knew that this was a two frame challenge, but it was the only way I could control the speed of the animation. I'm using Unfreez to compile the animation. Is there a better program I can use that can set speed settings?

From the look of Dumbo's entry, it looks like he knows..

@ sticky tape...
looking good, cool idea too!..., but i cant really tell if its a biplane or some sort of ground vehicle... i wish its a biplane tho,...maybe add a shadow underneath to make it more clear...
also i think it would be neat to add like a flickering tachometer (f-zero style..), jumping between 299 and 300 mph, lets say

Good suggestions, Onek!  Supposed to be a plane but hadn't gotten around to adding the shadow yet.  And I had wanted to shade the lower front set of wings/emphasize the edge of the rear set of wings to differentiate them as being separate while solidifying its intended shape just by using the shadow when it gets added.  Love the speed meter idea.

Think I'll give the ground lines some jagged edges to emphasize movement and break up the horizontal monotony.  No idea what I want to do with the buildings though!

All right. . . when I see default palette colors, I typically expect the whole picture to be that way. I know there are no written rules for this kind of thing, but usually pieces that include RGB are entirely that way. RGB/default palette or nothing, 'cept maybe black (like http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/46372.htm - this or http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/12082.htm - this ). Sooo. . . there you go. I like your concept but maybe you could spend the last part of the week on your colors, you've still got time.

Since it was my original intention and you're not the only one bringing this up, I'm going to attempt to make this piece an RGB + Black only piece, let's see if I can succeed.
