Heya guys!

I'm trying to knock the socks off this one guy who I want a position with.
So, along with what he wants me to do, I'm also going to give him a little extra.

Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated.

Here's a tree (yup, another one). The leaves just don't pop out like they ought...

More to be added soon.

I did an edit of your palette -- shifting the shades more towards blue/purple and the highlights more towards yellow mimics real lighting conditions in direct sunlight and makes your tree more dynamic.

EDIT: the second-to-darkest shade for your foliage needs to be shifted towards blue a little more and darkened just a tad in order for that darkest shade to look its best. I seemed to have missed doing that in my edit...

Thanks a lot for the palette edit!  It helped a lot.

After a changing the palette, I experimented with creating individual leaves.  I found that using 3 shades for each area.  In any case, the leaves are popping out a lot more, now!

Here's the latest, and this is how it will stay, unless I feel like adding a background :]

... or unless anyone has advice on how to improve it.

i think you need a DARKER darkest color, the darkest green you have is just too flat.

Here's the most recent update of the tree.  I made the darkest shade bluer, and slightly darker. I think the flatness is due to lack of detail.  (I also started fooling around with it after the color change):

Also, I would like help with this character base.  I haven't done much, but I want it to be good right from the get-go.  Thanks :]

You need an extra shade, or you need to redistribute your lighting. What makes the dark part of the tree stand out is that it only has 2 or even one colors to define the leaves, while the lighter parts have 3 colors.

Personally I'd try making the second darkest darker, use it to make more leaves in the darkest part, and add a few more highlights with the second darkest color.
