I had no clue how whales looked like underwater so I used this as more of the shape than the detail I guess.

One circle of plankton and the other of fishies!

first thing to do is to determine your palette. your blues look a little too green, and desaturated. (they don't need to be 'really' saturated, but your ref is really saturated, which is not coming off in your piece)

anyways, good job with the anatomy/ line art. only a few small tweaks in my eyes.
first, the head looks too angular to the body. perhaps angling the 'snout?' upward to match the 'head?' area, it will not only make the 'face' straight, but make it look like its turning in the water. (which is what it looks like in the ref, and makes it look truly underwater.)

Then there's a few small jaggies, and he seems a little thin... but that may be just because you don't have any darks outlining him. (and by that i mean shadow)

also his dorsal fin is not angular enough twards the rear.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help, this is what I've done so far for color changing :)
The body changed will come tomorrow, kinda of busy with some other stuff but tomorrow hopefully you will see an update.

Thanks :D

Nice, i like the change from 'reef' to 'sea' if you know what i mean.

I'm gonna wait for your update, but i'm gonna bring this up. are you gonna bring some darker colors to your pic? because it seems a little flat right now.

Cheers!

Update on the planned look. The snout looks a little messy, and I'll clean that up and take a good look at some other references.

For some reason, it locks down on the amount of colours I can make, no worries though I don't think I'll use another one unless a few reds for the fishies. But someone have a go at this, I see everyone editing other peoples pixels and I'm left in the dust :( xD

Here's my take on it. I added some shadow, and highlight, aswell as modified the snout and dorsal fin. (this was a 2 minute edit, so it can be refined.)

and no the reef isn't DONE. I'll be studying some pictures before I make my attempt, brush up the whale and it's done.

very angular, looks like the outline was made with the line tool. might try smoothing all that out
