I'm creating a pixel editing website and catalog, where anyone can draw simple, small pixel graphics as well as build on the work of others. The goal is to have a fun and collaborative experience where people can share their creations.

The website currently in beta and is located here: http://pixie.strd6.com - Pixel editor

There is no download or install required, though it does require a browser that supports the canvas element (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Opera, or IE9).

If you can, find the time to take a look at the site and the tools and let me know what you think.

I greatly appreciate your feedback and contributions.

Made something:

I like it. It's a nice idea. There are things that I hope you include as you work on it, which are the lines, and the crop tool so you can move the image in case you screw up. Lol look at the sword I made, and you'll know what I mean. I'll be great if the editor can be as simple as ms paint level, that'll do very well imo. Good luck.

Difficult to work with, but shows promise. Tiling/aa practice:

http://pixie.strd6.com/sprites/7478/load - I had fun with it .

The tools were relatively easy to use. My big beef was the palette, simply because there was no shade between the dark brown and black. :B

Other than that, it's very nicely designed. Fast and effective.

I'd add a keyword/search feature for the images, though. You're already at 180+ pages of images. :o

Might also be interesting to add some kind of voting/rating system.

You could also add some interesting lists, such as "Most Viewed" or "Most Collected." Would be a neat little thing to look at. :)

i cant check it out the editor atm because my browser doesnt support it, but i rly like the idea of online pixeling, what i think would be rly cool is to have something like that in this forum or on PJ itself, like for edits and stuff... also it would be nice to have something where u can work collaborative, like http:// iscibble.net - iscribble.net  but in a pixely way, personally i like the idea of a drawing game (as on iscribble) but with like 32x32 px spaces or something... i dont rly know how hard it would be to pull something off like that but maybe its something to think about

Awesome! I made a sad little peach, but I'll have to make something better in one.

Thanks for all the feedback so far!

@Ambient can you be more specific about what made it difficult to work with?

@Pragz I'm glad you had fun, I'll definitely be adding more searching, and ranking features.

Nice tool! Thanks for posting. Some thoughts:
  • After using the dropper tool, the pencil tool is automatically selected (which is good) but the dropper will still be highlighted in the menu. Slightly confusing.
  • Adjustable zoom levels would be nice.
  • I don't like how the center of the mouse cursor image is different for many of the tools. For example, with the pencil and brush it's at the bottom-left, but with the dropper it's at the bottom-right. More consistency here would make things much easier, I think.
I'll see if I can come up with some more pixels and suggestions later.
