This is a really good rpg maker. im not too sure if it works on mac or linux, but ive used it on windows vista. Its a pretty high power rpg maker, and supports plotscripting, although no coding is required. With coding, you can make nearly any style game, i myself, a total coding newbie, managed to make a working artillery game, but i never submitted it. It supports 20x20 walkabouts, and 80xsomething in battle sprites (i think, its been a while). Anyway, check it out, the community sites for it are very frendly and willing to help anyone using it. and dont look at my 2 crappy fangames, they suck. lmao.

Lol you ever heard of the rpgmaker series? Those are the best.

Dont you have to pay for them? lol. ive never liked the communities for the hugely popular things. The community for the program always plays a part in how much i like the program. With lesser known programs, the communities are always helpful and courteous. With bigger communities... Things end up like at gamefaqs :p

For RMXP / RMVX you have to pay (you get 30 days trial per each), but RM2000 / RM2003 you don't.

And dude, there are a chunk of communities of rpgmaker, some are really small, some are so-so as far as people going, and some are huge. Also, you get support in all communities, funny enough you get more support in the bigger communities, since there are more people available for help.

These big forums have team assigned, for example there are scripters that work for the forum that one of his main jobs in the community is take care of the scripting support area. In my opinion, Rpgmaker communities are completely different from indie game making,  gaming communities, gamefaqs, etc.

Ehh I guess. Lol. I still like small, tight knit communities though :)
I've downloaded rpgmaker before, and uninstalled it. Idr why, but I'll probably try it again when I get bored, lol.

Anyway, I don't know much about the RPG Maker community, but I do use the OHRRPGCE, and I will say that it's very suited for pixel artists because you are forced to make graphics from scratch (unless you use the freely given graphics from the OHR game "Vikings of Midgard", which is great pixel art in itself.)

It's also limited like an SNES/Sega Genesis game (closer to Sega Genesis despite having a customizable master 256 color palette), so it's pretty good for doing it old school.

Also, plugging a large community when someone is advertising the OHR is kind of lame, because the OHR community is seriously struggling.  The developers constantly give us new features that help give more freedom in putting custom features into our games, and we constantly have contests just to get people to say something and make games.

Do you have any games submitted on castleparadox or slimesalad, kitten? im bored and in need of something to do\play :p

Sure.  I'm Newbie Newtype on Slime Salad but people know me as Kitten Master.

http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewgame.php?t=335 - Hedgemaze , my 8-bit FF1 style game.

http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewgame.php?t=211 - Untitled , my obligatory newbie game.

Neither of these games are complete, and probably won't be completed since I'm working on other games.

Haha the graphics for hedgemaze look great, they remind me of the gameboy pocket days :)
Haha and untitled has great graphics too. i dont have the ohrrpgce installed anymore, but im probly getting it again at some point. My 2 games were both crappy fangames and were reviewed in the hamster wheel, and were a few mistakes away from being terrible game reviews xD

Heh, yeah, the colors were based on a screenshot of Link's Awakening DX.

Untitled is really early, I'm sure it would get critique'd to death.  I'd like to revisit Hedgemaze in the form of a sequel in the future, but I can't right now.

I might try your fangames, but obviously I wouldn't write a review or anything on them out of respect.
EDIT: Nvm, I don't think I can find them anyway.

Haha they are a total waste of time, trust me. they are like 10 minutes of gameplay apiece. One is a zelda game, the other is a resident evil game. The resident evil game was my first ever game, and may have been good if i put more time into it and actually balanced the gameplay. Its pretty hard, but ive beaten it without cheats. haha. They are both hosted on castleparadox:
resident evil infinity and Legend of Zelda - Reptilian Warlord
Idc about the critical reception or anything, i was bad at everything i did back then haha
