Hi everyone I just joined PixelJoint, I've stumbled across the site many times in the past and finally decided to sign up.

The main reason I signed up was because I'm looking for help and advice on how to become a better pixel artist, if anyone has any useful advice tutorials or even rules go go by I'm all ears.

I probably don't push myself as much as I could to be better and all my recent art was created for use in a 32x32 tile based game client known as Byond. I also have some experience with isometric pixel art however my skills are below average at best.

Any help would be great, thanks.

^ links to tutorials and useful knowledge.

Once you've got a piece you'd like some guidance on, you can post in the WIP forum and we can give you advice on what needs working on.

Thanks for the links it'll probably take me a while to look through those (first link is broken btw)

One thing I've always had trouble with is fire, this is the fire I created for use in a 32x32 tile based game, How would you suggest I improve it?

Single tile

3x3 repeat in-game

Hey, welcome to PJ :)
I like your Dr.Who booth which I just added to your gallery.
For help with stuff like your fire please use the WIP section, k.
If you want I'll move this thread over there.

Thanks for accepting it :) Least my gallery isn't totally empty

Yeah if you think I'd get more of a response from the WIP section that would be brilliant, thanks a lot.

color wise i'd say the fire is a bit too pinkish right now. throwing in some more saturated reds (less brownish hues) and yellows rather than light pink should help. as far as the animation goes, it's too linear, too updownupdown. fire is very dynamic, and should be shooting up and warping and all sorts of crazy fire stuff. I don't think the outline at the top helps either, makes it too solid. there are probably some decent fire examples in the gallery if you wanted to search for a reference.
