Brief description:
This will be ShoeString Games first commercial game project. Being self published and distributed over the internet, we are trying to establish ourself as a successful and professional independent game development orginazation. The game itself is a 2D game best described as an evolution of pong.

Game Description:
In the main game itself you play as a knight defending your king, standing atop a castle, against an apposing knight doing the same. The object of the game is to destroy the opposing enemys castle and capturing there king. Durning story you create your kingdom by chosing your knights color, king, and talbard traveling the world defeating kingdoms to make yourself the most feared army around. During the game powerups can be collected (by hitting peasents, other knights, etc...) running through the field. The knights themselves bounce back and fourth a boulder flung from one sides catapult. The powerups provide special abilitys (knocking the opposing enemy down with a direct shot, chosing the tragectory* of the rock, archers shooting towards the opposing castle) which are used to help collapse the enemys castle.

Target aim:
Retail: Current plan is that once the game is finished we will self publish it by selling it through an online store. Plans are also in the works to sell a boxed version for a slightly higher price.

Compensation:
What I offer is:
-Payment
  • (Total game sales / 2 (half to better the company))/ (each member-myself) after the game has been completed and is being sold.
-Credit
  • Full credit in game, on website, and where else it applys
- Experience
  • Something to use in a job portfolio, or for self respect.

Technology:
The game is 2D being written in CPlusPlus. The graphics API is OpenGL/SDL. The game engine is being developed along side the project in house by myself. The art tools can be whatever you wish them to be, as long as the output is .BMP format.

Talent needed:
I am currently looking for ShoeString Games Lead Artist, capable of 2D sprites, animation, tiles, etc... The person chosen for the position will be in charge of creating all aspects of the game art. The art style is cartoonish/detailed (if that makes any sense),an example of this style is in our base sprite for the main character ( http://www.geocities.com/vwmaggotwv/preview1.bmp - Link) .The project is expected to last anywhere from 3-8 months with atlest 5-15 hours a week of development. Deadlines will be set that must be completed on time with exception of good reason (death in the family, overwhealmed with job/family). All artwork will also be under copyright of ShoeString Games and can be used any way the company sees fit (website, advertisements, boxart, etc...).

Team structure:
Lead Programmer/Team leader/Founder: Mark St. Jean(myself). I have been developing software using c++ for six years now. For the last 5 months I have been the team leader as a subsidiary for Ethereal Darkness Interactive ( http://www.edigames.com - website ) and was in house during development for the last 5 months of the commercial indie game Mornings Wrath( http://www.morningswrath.com - website ).

Additional Info:
