Hey guys! First time poster here, looking for some feedback! I've been writing music for flash games for a living for a couple of years and have just got the opportunity to start working on the art side of things! Our first game entitled Chicken Brittle is nearing completions stages as I'm finishing up art and I was hoping for some feedback!

I especially need coaching on the palettes (as I'm partially colorblind and for other non-excusable reasons [ie: I suck]) and anything else you can point out as looking bad.

Thanks in advance, be br00tal! I strive for quality!

The game runs at 2x resolution so I've scaled the graphics up for reference.

The grass here is color-reduced right now, something will be done with those!

HooverPig enemy/platform. He acts as a springboard.

BombCrow appears from the background and divebombs straight down into the ground. Death from above!!!

Our fearless hero!

SpringMole creeps back and forth and acts as a springboard.

StingBee, midair obstacle.

CrazyFox runs around all crazy like.

Here's a quick ingame shot (not an actual level!)

Please provide feedback on everything you see :) Ideas for the tiles especially! I'm really not happy with the hay bales, and I'm not sure how to approach them.

The first thing that jumped out at me was that it was too busy.

I think that simplifying your background would go a long way towards making the game easier to play.

Contrast! Contrast! Contrast!

All your sprites have good forms, but they all look so flat D:

and I think the background you have would be fine, except for that green grass. that's really distracting from whats in the foreground.

Thanks guys! I'll be posting some edits here soon! You are totally right about the contrast being drastically different. There are some really bad consistency issues going on. I actually kind of expected this as I didn't really warm up before starting this game so the sprite kind of represent me trying to find my style and learning from mistakes of previous ones. They need some reworking. :)

I'd use a lot of silhouettes. Not the faded ground/grass things but the barn and the silo looking things.

Just make them simple enough to not disturb the foreground, like this:

Plenty of detail in the background computers, but because it's only 2 colors and they blend with the blue BG a lot, they're not distracting.
