Hi fellows ! Is there any artist here or on the web who's making concept art by the way of pixel art ? And i'm wondering if it's a good to proceed like it. Because good art not need to be highly detailed to be understood appealing. Then "concept pixel art" can be use to putting a visual identity without losing time with details but focused on composition, putting an effictive color palette, transmiting ideas, feelings, atmosphere ... to other team's members on project what they coud use to be inspired oras reference and all of it with a real gain of time. But i'm a noob  in the pixel art's world so what do you think about it ?and i think that's can be useful for the concept artist but also for the art director to communicate ideas. |

| it can be useful for thumbnails but in general conceptartists dont overlap that much with pixelartists...so not that I know of. |

I do both concept art and pixel art... pixel art is good for concept as long as it's about veeery little sprites but in general working against jaggies is something that takes away time you want to use to create an interesting character, or setting. I think that concept is something that needs just paper and pencil, or at most a tablet.
Still, there's nothing wrong about pixel art concept to me, I usually draw pixel art from other pixel art or from old traditional drawing, but my last work (for this week challenge) I did it starting from the pixel art. I think it changes based on who works on that :O |
