Hello artists,
I'm looking for answers to the big question on payment. I am currently project managing an Isometric Tactical RPG and we are at the point where we seriously need an artist if we hope to reach our demo launch by the end of June. Though the game engine, music and scripting will definitely be done for then, it's not very presentable if we're still using programmer art! And as finding a high quality artist for free is nearly impossible, we have decided it might be best to seek funding to hire someone.
So, we've created a very general asset list of things we thought would be needed for the demo. These are very generic environmental tiles, so avoid too much customization. In terms of style, we really like our game to be influenced by games such as Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. Some of the things we hope to have include:
Texture Tiles
- Grass
- Full Grass
- Grass with Flowers
- Balding Grass [~3 patterns]
- Plain Dirt
- Clumpy Dirt/Mud
- Cobblestoned/Rubble Dirt
- Mossy Dirt [~3 patterns]
- Water [animated]
Object Tiles
- Rubble
- Medium Rock
- Boulder
- Small Tree [~2 variations]
- Large Tree
- Bushes [~2 variations]
- Oversized Mushroom
- Cave Walls
- Ground Stalagmites
Now I would like your honest opinion. If you were to work on these tiles, what would be your cost demand under your typical payment model. And if you could also include the way you calculate it, that would be appreciated as well.
Thank you for your help!
