So far I have this character I'm making for a topdown shooter. It's supposed to be kind of like a futuristic guy in a suit, and i've been have quite a bit of trouble getting him to look right. All of the shading is pretty bad, it looks like pillow shading. I attempted to make it look like there were folds in the cloth but....it didn't turn out well, instead it kind of looks gritty, but that's not necessarily a bad thing considering the genre it is for. Anyway, I have two stances down: One for just walking around normally with his gun, and another for him aiming down sights:

the greys are too grey imo, try tinting them with a color to make them more interesting. greens are too saturated. is kinda pillowshaded. i think the darkest grey is a bit close to black and pure black has been overused. you may try implementing some http://itchstudios.com/psg/tuts/layerpasses.jpg - depth fog for the arms.
i know it's post-apocalyptic, but it's all very dark atm. your highlights are basically midtones, you should try covering a wider range of values.
