It is not strictly a wip, because i don't know if i even want to work
more on this, or if i should better keep it to have something to show
later as: "Hey look, this is the junk that came out, when i first tried
pixelling a realistic face."
That whole becoming a "pixel artist" thingie is harder than i thought.
So what do you think: Should i start a new piece or should i try to improve this messed up hunk o' junk?
Things that i do extremely dislike: The nose, the hair, the shoulders.
Things that i partly dislike: The mouth, the neck, the overall form of the head.
Things that i can barely live with: The ear, the eyes, the chin.
Oh and i wrote boring next to it, because that's what it looks like: Uninspired, expressionless, just plain boring.

www.saveloomis.org - www.saveloomis.org really helps with facial anatomy.
Nice use of pink in the pallette. Maybe don't outline every facial detail but instead suggest it with shade and highlight.
looks pretty good so far

Thanks for the link, Akira.(That will come in handy for more practice.)
Your hint to suggest form with just shade and highlight was also good, at least i think it looks way better now:

Changelist(version 1b):
-slightly increased ear size
-completely removed old nose and mouse to shade in new ones
-changed some parts of the neck
-added more highlight to the hair
-pushed around a lot of pixels here and there
-popeye-rinated one shoulder

Much nicer.
Armpits shouldn't go up so high and i think in general the body could use more highlights and lighter inside lines.
Keep up the good work

Ok, i lowered and moved the armpits. Also added more highlights and
lightened up the inside lines and again it looks better than before.
Your suggestions seem to always hit the point.

Here are all three versions so far for direct comparison:

I would like to call it 'finished' now. Do you think it is ready to be
submitted to the gallery? (i should probably change the text to 'face
practice' before doing so)

Very nice work. Looks pretty finished to me. Now submit and start pixelling something else!
I never like going over a piece after I'm finished with it so i admire you for keeping at it until perfection

Thanks a lot.
I also dislike working on anything after i internally distanced myself
from it, but since this has been a general flaw of myself for so long,
i decided to not let lazyness control the result anymore.
(And i can feel how my "endurance meter" has just increased. )
Thanks again for all your advice Akira, it was very helpful.
