I was just looking through the Job Offerings section, there are soo many mmorpgs that never get off the ground. Has anyone actually worked for a successful one?

The question still remains: has anyone worked for a successful one? There seems to be an abundance of sketchy job offerings surrounding them and when they actually do get going with an array of pixel artists, they tend to die really soon after.

Are programmers thinking beyond their means? Or are pixel artists just lazy bastards?

mainly they dont have good programers or indeed any at all i have
worked for failed ones in the past, i can tell you however fusion is going
strong, it has a good graphic department, besides needing one more
atists as one left. it is a legal coompany and has people doing all the
legal stuff, the programers know what they are doing client and server
side, the beta works well and has a vast array of features already and a
new client which will be on a newly made server is expected sometime
in the future which is being worked on. fusion also has manny
sponsours.

So how many people have worken on a COMPLEATED mmorpg? I have never heard of a finished one that a member of this community has contributed most of the graphics to. I just want to conferm that my suspicion is right.

Well most projects, at least where i have been, are not held together properly. it seems, that team leader is usually too laizy and he is usually just telling others to do stuff without figuring the proper sceme out by himself. No plot, needed graphics, none. That sucks. I don't want to work on a headless project. There should be some interest in it.

And about MMOs and stuff, why are everything fantasy? THERE IS ENOUGH!

indeed.

i have just noticed how no-one has answered the question. Outlaw,
how many completed MMORPG's are there, sureley not that many,
therefore there are hardly likely to be many artists.

I guess so but the ones i've seen are compleatly 3d. I got into one just to see and a ran around and blocked peoples' view and ran away when they tried to attack. Then I invited them to kill me and just kept running away.
