Hello, I've been making pixel art for a short while but all my work turns out pretty bad. I've heard that having a good knowledge of traditional art can make your pixel art skills improve. Is this true and how can I improve without having the spend money on art classes? Thanks in advance.

You could post one of your works in progress in our WIP thread, the people there are very helpful. Also, I think there is a topic somewhere for newbies that explains some important things for pixel art.

I am also curious about the traditional art skills. How much are they important and how can I learn them? I can't go to school for it and in my country we don't have any classesor seminars about drawing stuff
My best bet is books?

Your best best is practice.
Get an idea, pick up your mouse and get to it. Post in WIP section for help and feedback.
