So, doing some 16x16 tiling and characters for a space game in the vein of dwarf fortress/SS13.

The characters are, from left to right, engineer, security, maintenance (Kitchen staff?), a stack of various scientists, and some sort of... officer or something? Anyways, I'm being very indecisive about what tiles are working and which aren't. Almost certainly intended to be viewed 2x, though maybe 3x? Comments/suggestions/critiques?

The first thing I notice are the clashing perspective, which I never really like. In my opinion you should either choose to go for a topdown view, or a birdseye view altogether.
Secondly, do the characters look "wide" like that for a reason?

Here's an edit I did for you. I went a bit nuts on it but you get the point.


Keep it up, I would love to see this being made into a game.
