On Deviantart. I got a Daily Deviation:

I guess the mediocre reception of my pixels on pixeljoint isn't because I totally suck, after all.

I wouldn`t say that your reception here is mediocre. PJ is just a much smaller site than deviantart, so you will get less traffic. And people here know more about it, so you will get less people worshiping you as well.
I mean, you have 32 favs on that piece, here, and I'm quite sure that it got into the weekly showcase? I'm by no means "good" at pixel art or maybe not even "decent", but you can add the favs I had on all my pieces since I joined all those years ago and it would still be less than that.
All in all, I'd say that your pixels are pretty well received here. Well deserved, too. But you just seem to be used to larger communities with more users commenting and faving your work, which isn't the case here, because we don't have so many active members.

Oh, I'm not about being worshiped, lucas, I'm really not. I'm just getting the impression that, it's hard to make it in the pixeljoint weekly challenges unless I'm a guy, and unless I start painting things that appeal to guys. Which is a little disappointing, but I'll get over it I guess. It's not just me, either. I've been looking at a fewawesome pixellers who are getting no recognition (check my faves).
I'm not sure what 'good' or even 'decent' pixelart is, but I'm pretty sure I got works of yours in my faves, and I only fave stuff I really admire, so, there. I don't know why you're not being more appreciated for some of your stuff either. That's my point.
Maybe you're right, though, maybe we're not an unfair community and I just need to get to know us a little better. And maybe I got a DD on deviantart because they don't know all about pixelart, so they are easier to impress.
So yeah, there's a personal component to it, but I'm also perplexed about how fair the rating system is, objectively - and even subjectively.

I'm really surprised to see you write that, neo. I haven't been here very long, but in the four months I've been here, I don't remember any new members making such an impact so quickly. To be honest, when I see members like you, Melee, Celia and Hardrockangel, I tend to ask myself if being a girl gives you more attention, and I have to ask myself if I'd act the same way if I didn't know your gender. It can go both ways.
One of the best pixelartists I've seen on here, seems to be missing from your list of favourites. Very successful, even her stuff without robots and trucks. http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/32832.htm
If the response you received was "mediocre", then I guess you'd describe the average response on PixelJoint as "abysmal". And if that's the case... well, hopefully your continued feedback on the forums and in the gallery will make a change. It has for me, at any rate.
As for the ratings... meh. A single constructive comment is worth more than any rating, for me.
PS: Congrats on the DD.

1) The majority of Deviant Art can be mesmerized by a shiny pretty coin.
True fact. I've seen people submit recycled lolcat pictures and get a
trillion favs.
2) Who? Who is "getting no recognition"? Let's see your faves shall we?
Uh huh... uh huh... uh huh... ok... yeah... skeds, Arthi, sedge, Opacus,
Mrmo, Adarias, ilKKe, Fool. That's just page 1. All of those people (some more than others) hog the weekly showcase and hall of fame all to themselves.
3) What does being a girl have to do with anything? I call bullcrap on
the feminist sexist card that just got pulled.
http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/1416.htm - Girl A
http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/4535.htm - Girl B
http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/2406.htm - Girl C Do you want me to
continue?
I'm sorry you feel under-appreciated. But it has nothing to do with you
being bad or you having chesticles. Simply stay active, post,
participate. This place resonates best to names and faces that become a
constant familiar presence.
Submit one awesome pixel and people will shrug. Submit two awesome
pixels and people will whisper your name. An avalanche begins with one
snowflake, but it takes many snowflakes to get it rolling. Capice?
All this being said, happy belated birthday!

Not getting attention because you're not a guy? That's just stupid. No offense. First, you get attention, and second, why on earth that should possibly matter is just... What. It's an art site. We don't sit around comparing dick sizes. We make art. You do that too. Balls aren't needed to pixel.
I'm not trying to be rude at all, sorry if it comes off like that, I'm just a little surprised to hear that.
Yes, dA is easier to impress. I don't mind them giving you a DD at all - you are actually a good pixel artist, even if you're no Fool (but don't worry, nobody else is), and considering how most DDs are REALLY sh*tty pixel art pieces, yours is way above their level. Personally, I would've chosen your latest piece if I had to give you a DD. But that's not relevant, anyway.
And painting things that appeal to guys... Well, PJ does have a majority of males, and the voting is open to everyone. Each person votes based on their personal preferences. But you can just go look at past challenge wins. People don't win because they draw boobs, they win because they make good pixel art. Just keep what you're doing and you will win eventually. I know that I voted for all your challenge entries except for the villain one, and I will probably vote on the new one too. But it's a choice based on the quality of the actual piece, and not the scrotum you might or might not have.
Just give it some time. Things will get better. If you're feeling like nobody gives you the attention you deserve, just go to the newest pixel art and check some "bad" work that isn't by one of the most well known artists. They are lucky if they get one comment or two.
Anyway, keep making art, we all love to see your stuff, but before you start accusing people of being sexist or whatever, make sure they really are. Pixeljoint is no worse than the rest of the world.

You are being slightly 'something' o.O
A very rare PJ thing is for any piece to be added to the gallery and while its still on the front page its already on the WS. This piece did that! Its still in the WS and is 13th for the http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixels/new_icons.asp?ob=search&dosearch=1&d=8/29/2011 - month . Your sex has nothing to do with it. PJ has had countless pixel-chicks and many are revered. Stichy, Mash and Bisque, wish04, showtime, leel for example. Pieces get extra attention in the gallery when the art merits it. PJ is a community of people that know pixels in general much better and are more technically savvy than the average DA member. Its comparing apples and oranges.
PJ members are not great at giving comments and feedback and making themselves visible. But, PJ members SEE everything and notice it all.
This is not to say that you can't use your sexy powerz to help matters. Post a pic of yourself in a Voris Vallejo outfit below and if its good all the boys will immediately add 5blue dots to every piece in your gallery, comment with raves on all your pieces and download your pic to use as a screensaver
E: On this piece that got you a DD. You are still somewhat new here and that piece was your first submission here. PJers are always leery at first. We've all been burnt by new members that end up being frauds or just lucky at first. It takes a while to get respect from your peers. We can now see you have skill and have a solid art understanding. You anatomy skills are top-notch, you can pixel. FYI, my first submission to PJ was rejected, yours wasn't.

Don't forget about Arachne, Jaeden, Morganne, MashPotato, Petrichor, Mirre, and Wayuki (in addition to the pixellers mentioned by greenraven and jal). There are plenty of good she-pixellers out there.
And I wouldn't say your art doesn't appeal as much to males. I wouldn't know you were a female if I hadn't been told so. You've got a piece utilizing an angle that emphasizes the breasts (your avvy), a piece with warriors and bones (Mistress, they are invading), and a piece with a skull and a gun (Lisbeth and rattlesnake).
I dunno how much 'girlie' subject matters as far as reception goes either. Wayuki has a fashionable doll with nearly 40 faves, Mirre has a pretty mermaid with 125 faves.
dA is easier to impress though, no getting around that. And they've got a much larger active member base. The number of faves/comments you've received is pretty high for PJ, and accurately reflects your skill level.

I am glad some members already cleared up some things, but ill repeat them anyway:
In addition to all the awesome girls named (especially by Cure), there are also boys who score high by making girly things. http://www.pixeljoint.com/2009/10/03/2938/Pixel_Artist_-_Syosa.htm - Syosa
I think you got quite some recognision already, except for one of your submissions all of them have over 10 favs. That is something special.
And at last, deviantArt is a fun place, but not the best place for pixels. And as there is a lack of proper artists, even I got 3 daily deviations. And I only have one piece that has over 10 favs here! (11 favs FYI)
I wouldn't complain until you get people messaging or commenting that your work sucks. And if you want our opinion anyway, post stuff in the WIP forums, higher rating guaranteed!
Daniel, long time member of pixel joint and even longer of dA, into this since 2006
EDIT: Jal, you say PJ members see all. Can you figure out how many ratings a piece got? What kind of number is that for the weekly top or on average for anything new? It would be interesting to know, more interesting than the viewcount (which is also unknown..) The average amount of ratings on any piece is 66, but that is an unfair number as it counts everything: Most ratings will be given to the HoF, lots of pieces from the early years will have way less ratings. Oh and I probably counted the ratings on inactive artworks too, so the actual average is a bit lower.
EDIT2: My first piece was rejected too :D. This system is really written to make new members angry, so that only the really good ones or the really interested ones (or the really lifeless bored ones like me at that time, or greenraven ) stay in the community!

That's only been because you've been pushing the line you know better not to cross not because they weren't good or well drawn. Only that it blurred the pixelart/Oekaki/hybrid line, mkay.
@CELS, I was being sarcastic and failed to add >>>

In any case, I'm sorry for being unreasonable, all. It's a new community for me and I'm not knowledgeable in its enightened ways. It's easy to get frustrated, and it happened to me. Regardless, I love the creativity that goes on here, and pushes my own creativity as well.

Frustrated? You (nor any of the new users) have nothing to be frustrated about. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in PJ's entire history whose 1st submission took nearly a year (give or take a couple of months) to get into the gallery. True story.
You know, looking back on it now I'm surprised I had such patience and determination once. These days I'd probably set something on fire by now.

It seems almost pointless comparing different members in this regard, though. I mean, some new members are 14 years old and have never drawn anything outside of school and kindergarden. Others are 25 year-old game designers, motivated by a desire to create nostalgic platform games, rather than any artistic imperative (of course, games should be considered art, but bear with me). And then you have adult artists, having studied art history, anatomy and color theory years ago, becoming proficient in other media such as oil paintings or photoshop, who are already recognised contributors on other websites, such as DeviantArt, with hundreds or thousands of followers.
It's apples and oranges, innit?
@jal: I know - I was trying to make a joke. Perhaps I should also have used the clown face.

You participated in some unsually good challenges, your quality would normally place on the podium. But don't worry...your most recent entry will place top-3 and probably win a trophy for August. And I'm sure that's just the first of many accolades to come if you keep pixellin'. I can tell you're a great artist and illustrator, and once you master the way of the pixel...you will be near unstoppable!

Thanks Dawnbringer. I guess I'm not mastering the way of the pixel as fast as I should, because I still didn't even get #3 in this challenge.

Why do you critisize your stuff so harsh. You do realize that there are exactly 29 entries to the challenge, and you expect to be in the top 3 immediately?
Please stop bothering yourself, as you start to bother me with it.

You can try to go for the top three with the challenges, but don't expect
getting into the top three. Expecting and not getting it will lead to
disappointment. The challenges should be a fun way of learning something
new about pixel techniques and your own art. If you have an awards wall full with green ribbons, it shows that you go out of your comfort zone and try out different things which I think is more important than getting the top three :)
Some members would love if their works get as many favs and comments as yours have gotten, myself included. When I first started submitting stuff on pj, I soon learned that most people on here don't like pixel dolls since they use a base and the color count is mostly non-existent with dolls. Even knowing this, I still submitted my works on here.
Mastering something is going to take time so don't rush it. Just have fun and keep practicing. I'm sure you'll get there soon :3

I guess this topic was a Pandora's Box and you got more than you bargained for.
My advice to you: ../pixels/members_awards.asp - Look here ,
do the math, then lower your expectations a bit. This place functions
quite a bit differently than Deviant Art. Not everything gets a comment,
not everything gets a fave. Some people just like to silently admire
around here.
And on the subject of the link I posted... *slams desk* ...where's my zappy dammit?!

Hostile, when did I get hostile? I thought I was being civil.
What you're looking at is a wall of green ribbons.

Each one of those is a person who didn't get a gold.

And trust me, if and when I get hostile, you'll know it.

Oh wait, are you talking about the zappy thing? Cuz that wasn't aimed at you silly.

Just going to help build your self confidence: You are crazy to think you're unwelcomed. I congratulate you on your Daily Deviation on Deviantart, but the reason (As was already mentioned) you don't get as much shine on Pixeljoint has to do with the community being so small and also being more critical on what is done right. That piece that made the DD is great and I'm glad that it did because many of the work that comes from Deviantart (specifically pixel art) is crud and it only gets so much shine because it's either cute or some sort of fanart, rather technique and true ability. 30+ favourites on Pixeljoint is equivalent to 30,000+ favourites on deviantart if you want to compare the community sizes.
The whole gender thing is quite ridiculous. I don't see how that's relevant to anything.
Keep up the good work. :)
