well if you want to get specific, christmas is a mix of pagan and christian rituals (which is sort of ironic as the christian church outlawed paganism at one point).
I had a very happy and long drinkmass and might have to sit out for a while... |

There is speculation that jesus was probably born in June or July,
thus rendering the whole religious side of Christmas wrong. Christmas has just become a global event million dollar corporations use to make money. |

yeah why do they need to jesus it up and then get angry about how nobody cares. if they didn't jesus it up in the first place then the wouldn't need to complain.

Well it is CHRISTmas....Even if some symbols were originally pegan (evergreen tree missletoe ect.) the general concept is the same. A day to celebrate the birth of Christ. The actual day he was born doesn't matter as much as remembrance. I'm not gonna preach to you so just enjoy the season. The Roman-Catholics needed to convert local pagans to christianity and what easier way than blending their beliefs with christianity. Every major holiday holds similar claims... originally Pagan, converted / blended with Cross-tians. Ah well... fish for all... Me? I just use christmas as an excuse to give people presents. Sometimes when I find something I know my friends will love i buy it and save it for xmas. Cause if you give a random aquatance a present in the middle of the year its.. awkward (its different for close friends) but on christmas its appreciated.. so yeah, I'm not very religious and I agree that this is a money-making scheme (just like every other holiday haha) but its really not too bad.. nothing wrong with giving people something special every now and then, right? its all good
