Hey there, I'm a start up game developer, who is literally sinking all his money into starting an actual company. That being said, I am a coder and writer over an artist, so I am asking the community for help.

The required info is as follows:

  1. Queuethulu Games LLC started on March 21, 2011.  I went to college for video game design and development and while I have a great grasp on coding, design and whatnot, I managed to fail all of my art classes. I can do simple sprite edits, but you can't sell games with edits of other peoples work.
  2. To build buzz and have something to show Microsoft to get published on Xbox live arcade, I'm starting a flash game which will be hosted on newgrounds.com once we have a playable flash version, Microsoft tends to give the engine out more when you show you have finished polished work.
  3. Sadly for now, this is unpaid. When (not if) it goes onto Xbox Live Arcade, All profits will be split equally. example if the game sells for $8, and there are three artists, the 3 artists and myself would all get $2 per sale, not great, but we have to start somewhere.
  4. my personal email is: mogwaikimosabe@gmail.com, this also goes to my cell phone, so unless I'm at the job keeping Queuethulu in the black, ill email back asap.
  5. http://www.wix.com/queuethulugamesllc/home
  6. No previous projects at the moment, I could never get art done so the games never went anywhere.
Now personally, I'm new to this, so as long as you have the talent, I'm fine  if you have no resume, business acumen, etc. skill to me, will always speak louder. Also for legal reasons on my end, please be over 16, labor laws and what-not.

EDIT: In my brilliance, I forgot to mention the project is a 16 bit retro style one. A cross between Streets of Rage and your basic Mario platformer. It will be stylized and goofy and the main hero is really aware that he is in a game.

2nd EDIT: For now, I've decided to focus on the 'Hero' to fine tune the platform engine, He has 19 different animations (running, jumping, punching, etc...) which is the largest in the game, but will be worth it when it all comes together.

I am not a great pixel artist but I would like to help in any way possible! Pay doesn't matter much for me, I'am a firm believer in the indie game community.

For a little more info on the game, what size is the screen? will it be a tiled platformer or completely hand drawn? (much much longer to do.) How tall do you want the sprites? Is it strictly 2D?

EDIT: typo

Thanks Brevr,

Here's basically the required info, in case anyone else has a question:

1) The screen size is slated for 640 x 480.
2) Tiling is probably a solid 75% of the game's background, and like games of old, palate swaps will most likely be implemented.
3) 128x128 is what I'm currently setting for character frame dimensions. Should be ample for basic animations and allow for more accurate hit detection.
4) As much as I'd love to implement some 3D techniques, a la Treasure, This shall be a strict 2D retro title.

Hope that helps, if more information is needed, please feel free to continue asking!
