Did you try looking at references?
 
For one, I'd make the layering more apparent, for a more interesting silhouette and some drop shadows. Second, I'd add the buttons/strings in the middle of the stomach. ------------- ▄▄█ ▄▄█ ▄█▄ ▄█▄ |

This piece is already in your gallery. Even though its added it does have some problems. The biggest, to me, is the coloring style seems wrong here. Maybe too much dithering and things like the pattern on the flag don't help things. Low contrast and banding are also issues. ------------- |
