Here's a little animation i made, not sure if i did the shading right.

Thats all ive done so far
I did a some bodies with it and changed the color scheme but thaey all looked really flat compared to the leg

The leg doesn't move independently, the entire body moves as a whole. By working this way, you don't get to see the relationship of the leg to the rest of the body. Try animating the entire animal, even if it's just a stick figure at first.

Problem one:
You animated by simply changing the position of the feet. KABOOM!
The leg should be moved to accomodate the movement of the body.

Problem two:
To address the first problem you need two legs or it would just fall.
KABOOM! Make another leg. That way you can make the body
constantly fall and catch it self.
 
DOUBLE KABOOM! You could leave it with one leg, but then you'd have
to make it hop. The choice is yours.
