Hi
You posted me a quick message to say my entry to the diamond challenge needed revision, as advised in your message, I would like to discuss this.  Sorry if this should not be done publicly, but your message to me did say this was the place.

The entire image was created in Gimp using just the pencil tool, no tracing took place.  The only morally grey area I can see would be that a reduced color version of the original, famous image was also used as a reference.

Apologies if such a reference is prohibited, I believe it was a valuable and fair learning tool and would use it again if I felt it was useful (although I would probably explain it's use in future).

Thanks.

The piece had received a low score in the public queue. It also had noisy pixels and inconsistent AA, with the AA totally absent in some areas. the bottom most face is off center and extremely small. It is not a matter of whether or not it is pixel art, but that it shows haphazard technique. There is nothing wrong with using a reference, I think a member pointed out its use because he thought the image was just a color-reduced rescaled version of the image. Whether it is or isn't, it has that same uncontrolled quality, which is the central issue.

OK.  I'm not going to let myself get too bummed out over it.
It will likely take me some time to resubmit this though.
