Hi Pixeljoint community,

as always I am still developing my roguelike game. One thing that kept bothering me is the logo. Finally I think that I nailed it down to this:

If you want to see the logo in its context visit the following thread and look for the latest entry: http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=13607 - Character Creation Menu

I'm not completely satisfied with it, though. For example the colour of the closer skyline seems to disturb the readability of the title or is it just me? The composition of the clouds doesn't please me neither. Do you have any suggestions, tips or hints?

Greetings
BrightBit

Thank you DawnBringer.

I already tried borders for the text even a white outline with black text but I don't like it as much as I like the black only version. That's mainly because of the context the logo will be used in. The black bottom bar is indicating this context and I think the white colours don't fit to it. I like your changes of the clouds, though.

I really appreciate your help, thank you.

You don't need to keep it white, with an outline you can make the logo almost any color.

If you don't like an outline and black text; then make the background have a lower contrast (mostly make the cityscape use brighter and more similar colors)

What about this:

Of course, the clouds and even the text are just a rough draft.

Somehow I miss the darker colour on the closer skyline. Do you have a tip on how to improve it?

Make the back skyline even brighter (it will make the front one look darker) and make the front one less bluish.

Like so:

I think the problem of my first post reappears here. Increasing the contrast of the skylines seems to disturb the readability of the caption. I think these are the problematic zones:

I've done some kind of redesign of my headline/logo because I wasn't happy with the skyline and didn't succeed in making it look good.

So what do you think? Does the new headline look better now? Any suggestions on how to improve it even further? Should I remove the details/items?

Why dont you stick to the font of the character creation? I think that style would suit the website itself too.

Apart from that the image behind the game name / logo is quite random. Create a character looking like a boss in a basement? Just a quick grab out of my idea box there..

Thank you for your feedback.

You're right. The old font works better. I initially didn't think so because the font wasn't designed to be that big. BTW: The background actually isn't that random. It's one of the ground tiles of the game but I guess you meant "generic" and I think I have to admit...

Some of my first iterations of the new logo looked like this:

If you could, the logo with the backgrounds scrolling past would be real cool

Background scrolling came to my mind before, too. But the logo will also be used for the website and there it would be very difficult to implement.

I tried to make the logo look more alive by adding tiny details to the background:
