Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to invite you to the design process of http://www.abandonia.com - abandonia.com 's side project, Abandoned Times.

For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, let me introduce ourselves. Abandonia, which is a homepage devoted to preserving old videogames falling under the strict terms of abandonware (which legal term is similar to shareware and freeware) from getting lost in history, has numerous side projects all dealing with different aspects of the videogame industry. Among the many, one project is Abandoned Times, an electronic magazine about old videogames. There have only been two issues so far, mostly because we're lacking contributors - designers, mostly.

That's why we are now looking for pixel artists to help us with magazine design. We would like you to draw specific pictures in the style of early 90s pixel art, since only that would fit into the theme of the magazine.

You can find the above mentioned AT issues at http://www.abandonia.com/en/abandonia-times - http://www.abandonia.com/en/abandonia-times for reference. We welcome experienced designers as well, but we can also make smaller contributions useful.

The magazine contains numerous constant design elements, that are meant to be the same in all the articles of every issue. These are for example letters of the alphabet indicating the genre of the writing and the words themselves (Review, Feature, Tutorial, Interview, Versus Article, Console Corner - and the letters R, F, T, I, VA, CC).
We also have numbers representing the score given by reviewers for the game. The scale does not really matter as we can write 9 out of 10 or 4 out of 5 with the same fonts.
Headers are constant as well, they contain the title of the article and the genre, e.g. "History of Horror Games - Feature".
There are initials starting paragraphs, those are uppercase letters of the alphabet.

For the sake of diversity, we'd like you to create pixel art versions of these elements in three different sizes, small, medium and large (what we consider small or large can vary, so the real difference is quality, a lot of it can be lost during resizing), in at least three different colour palettes, one of them being the standard AB colour palette (the colours used in the design of the forum, at http://www.abandonia.com/en/forum - http://www.abandonia.com/en/forum ).
We also recommend you to create icons instead of the letters for the article types, for example a microphone instead of the letter I, which means Interview. More than three palettes are welcome.

There should be also a pixel art font set, in upper and lowercase, for general use. These should contain at least the letters of the English alphabet, the numbers from 0 to 9, punctuation marks and optionally frequent characters used on the internet (such as @, &, $, #, /, %, etc.).
Of course there can be more than one font sets, in more than one palettes (monospaced and serif and sans-serif).

We trust you for any other details of these works, including the style, theme, and number of colours.

Please study the actual Abandoned Times magazines for valid reference.

IMPORTANT

Unfortunately we are unable to offer anything valuable other than proper crediting in the magazine and the fame and glory that comes after your works are published in the magazine.
