Hi guys ! Long time no posting here :/
Here is the very begginning of a running cycle animation I'm working on.
I go step by step, in details, so my animation is smooth and well prepared.
This is what i figured to be a solid start, not sure about the shape of the trail, I guess that this shape will define the overall attitude of the running character
Scrap legs
Move your hips !
And here is what i've got so far, the orange circles are supposed to help on situating the knees
Advices welcome :)

Looks nice so far. Seems smooth and efficient. I've been doing traditional animation and never got into too much trouble, I figured the way to get it right (for me) was looking as as much reference possible and then doodle away quite quickly until it feels and looks right. It was a quite natural thing. Then you go into detail. This seems a quite precise approach but still free and intuitive. Feels right I'd say. Then again I'm not familiar with pixel animation but it's more a matter of movement than medium I guess.
------------- Une signature? Comme Zorro ou Batman?

Colonel bracket : Thanks, I checked it and it's pretty useful (:
Mille : Hey, long time no seeing you around ! I tried several times to animate pixels from scratch and never got it right. This more technical approach allows me to see really how it works, but I'm affraid my run cycle ends up being completely artificial, like it's not natural and have no character in it.
Practised a little bit of traditional animation recently at school and I feel way better with it and didn't got into too much trouble either.
I think medium matters, especially about pixel art. I don't use a tablet for pixel art so it's much more about calibrating and detailling on small surfaces whereas in traditional animation it felt more free and intuitive.
Made the legs shorter, might cut them a little bit more.
The shoulders a just inversed hips, not sure about this

Well, I don't think my critique will help but it looks like a horse/centaur walking. heh, I think the green shape could be a little shorter horizontally and bigger vertically
represent this as arms, then represent its feet as hands, well looks like its punching to the left.
some frames are too fast that it looks like legs are hitting each other and going back to the front.
just look at the head of the character and watch without focusing on the legs and you will se what I mean.
Some time ago I saw something about a man that created walking "creatures" without any sort of electricity, and the walking/running shape was + - like this:
ahh.. Also, the shoulders are just getting "Knocked back" on the left side, not on the right, you should do it with both k? Hope I could help ya. See ya!

FrostPumpkin est de retour!!
It feels like you've only done the first half of the animation. Is it the case? It would help us help you if you elaborated on your character's personality, too. Considering your past work, I'm really looking forward to progress on this!
