I'm looking for a semi-experienced pixel artist who's willing to work in an informal environment, chatting over Skype, someone who can work together with me as a friend and not as a robot.
The project is a side-scrolling shooter (shmup) with hard science lore and a focus on arcade-quality, finely balanced gameplay. It's heavily inspired by the Thunder Force and Raiden Fighters series, and I want the graphics to reflect that.
I'd like to work with an artist who can craft large sprites and beautiful vistas in a 32-bit but low-res style. Knowledge of science fiction art design is a huge plus. I'm very patient with artists and not picky about time, but I expect someone who can work with a long production cycle without complaining. Initial work will be slow, but with cooperation should pick up pace quickly.
Rates are negotiable, starting at $30 a week, and I'm willing to increase that rate later on. In addition, the artist I hire will be guaranteed a significant share of the profits made from the game after release, 10-15%, and a large bonus.
Please contact me at mutag3ne(AT)live(DOT)com if you're interested.
