What do you push pixels with? Tablet or a mouse?

Tablet (Wacom Intuos4, to be exact), and I love it!

Tablet... bottom line...

I use the Wacom Bamboo (touch and pen).

$100 when I got it from Best Buy (2 years now).

3 votes for tablet (Intuos 4).

I'll sometimes use a mouse once it's down to fine-tuning, but just as often I use a stylus. A mouse just can't touch the natural movement and comfort of a stylus+tablet.

Mouse for pixeling/ spriting. I use a bamboo tablet for digital painting though.

ditto!
*I do sometimes use a bamboo too which makes little difference for pixel work from the high end Intous4. So long as the settings are set for pixelling I think there is little difference with any stylus/tablet so a cheap one is better than none...pixelling with a mouse is just too wierd for me, I can't do it.

I simply use a mouse

Both. I usually use my Wacom Bamboo tablet for blocking and rough shading, then use the mouse for detail and precision work.

Tablet for sketching and blocking out general shapes and values. Mouse for precision work (e.g. actual pixeling).

Intuos 3 tablet! Had it for a few years now and it still works like it's brand new. Best piece of hardware I ever bought

I got a Bamboo tablet some week ago, and I'm quite disappointed with what I can draw with it it. Not sure what I expected, but something at least coming near to the sensation and control I get from actual drawing with a pencil would be nice. For now mouse is more reliable. I only wanted to draw "simple" lineart. ATM that is impossible for me.

Any tips for drawing with tablet, or just practice?

I use my tablet, a Wacom Bamboo Fun, for really rough sketches. And for everything else, I use a mouse. C:

It might help to put a sheet of paper over your tablet for awhile if the smooth surface is giving you problems, I've heard of some people doing that. The Bamboo is also less pressure-sensitive than the other Wacoms above it (Intuos, Cintiq), but I've never used a Bamboo to compare how much of a difference it makes.

The paper idea could work, try it out :) Also try adjusting the tablet's settings again. It does take some getting use to overall. It took me about a month or so to get the same level of control to paint with a tablet as I would with a brush.

I use to use a mouse when I started on pixel art, but I've started using my tablet. (Genius mousepen-definitely wouldn't recommend it xD)

I've been without a pc for about 3 yrs, and have recently bought a new one. Up until now I've been doing all my pixel art on an I pad(not the most traditional route to be sure). But I've found it to be very quick and organic. So much so that I am struggling with a mouse ..sigh.
